What is ViewMagic?
ViewMagic has developed a unique breakthrough software technology allowing apps to move software controlled virtual cameras in 3D space within live-streaming or pre-recorded video content.
The virtual cameras can move in real-time with full 6 Degree-of-Freedom to any position and orientation, enabling a number of important applications that were impossible before now.
ViewMagic light-field video content is recorded using a practical and small number of regular colour cameras and requires no green-screens, specialized active depth sensors or other lighting setups.
ViewMagic develops and licenses the light-field recording, processing, streaming and reconstruction software in addition to providing manufacturing calibration processes and integration support to innovative end-user product companies.
What are the applications?
ViewMagic Experience enables mutual natural eye-contact to be enjoyed within video calling applications by virtually moving the camera behind the display. On 2D displays, when combined with head tracking or on a true light-field display, a 3D window like illusion is also experienced, greatly adding to the sense of presence.
ViewMagic 4D enables VR/AR devices to deliver physically accurate Virtual Premium Seat and Virtual Teleportation experiences with full 6 degree-of-freedom immersion in live-streamed or pre-recorded video content never seen before in real-time and at ViewMagic’s image quality level and minimal network bandwidth overhead.
Depth Data: In addition to a reconstructed image, the ViewMagic system produces up to 4K resolution depth data in real-time with unprecedented quality. This has important applications for visual effects in regular and immersive content production, and for use in AR/VR applications.
